2021 Ford Explorer
The Explorer’s base trim starts things off with a 2.3L EcoBoost® engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission. This combo delivers up to 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. With that much power under the hood, you’ll be able to tow up to 5,300 pounds.
Rear-wheel drive comes standard on the base trim, but both Intelligent 4WD and a Terrain Management System™ are also available.
The interior makes it easy to get comfortable with cloth seats and Tri-zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control. You’ll also have lots of music to choose from with SiriusXM® Satellite Radio. Plus, everyone can stay connected with the FordPass Connect™ 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.
The Explorer also includes some smart technology that can keep you safe, too. Ford Co-Pilot360™ comes standard to help prevent accidents. It includes safety features like a Lane Keeping System that’ll keep you from drifting, and a Reverse Sensing System and Rear View Camera that make it easy to park and back up safely.
Explorer XLT
The 2021 Ford Explorer XLT trim runs on the same engine as the base trim but offers some extra amenities. For example, you and your copilot can warm up with heated front seats. The XLT’s cabin also offers a sleek feel with available ActiveX upholstery.
A pair of captain’s chairs is also available for the second row. This gives your passengers a convenient center console that includes its own cupholders and storage space. They’ll also have an easier time charging their phones with dual second-row smart charging USB ports.
Explorer Limited
In the Explorer Limited, you’ll find both luxury and lots of technology. It features leather seats and the SYNC® Voice-Activated Touchscreen Navigation System. Its touchscreen display can help you find the fastest route and guide you with colorful maps and turn-by-turn directions.
The Limited also includes Ford Co-Pilot360™ Assist+. This system gives you even more safety features, like Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control.
Under the hood, the Limited runs on the same engine as the previous trims. However, if you want a more efficient SUV, you can go with the available 3.3L hybrid engine instead. It offers an EPA-estimated driver range of over 500 miles, while still delivering up to 318 horsepower and 322 lb-ft of torque.
Explorer ST
The Ford Explorer ST is an SUV that drives like a sports car. It runs on a 3.0L EcoBoost® V6 engine that offers an exhilarating 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. This makes your drive more fun and bumps your towing capacity up to 5,600 pounds.
While 4-wheel drive (4WD) is available on the previous trim levels, the ST is the first one to come with standard Intelligent 4WD. Its Terrain Management System™ also makes your SUV more adaptable, with selectable driving modes.
Explorer Platinum
The final trim level is the Ford Explorer Platinum. It comes with all the great amenities in the previous trim, plus Tri-Diamond perforated leather seats with accent stitching. When you want to brighten things up, or show off your stylish cabin, you can open the twin-panel moonroof.
