Ford Bronco Sport vs Toyota RAV4

Ford Bronco Sport

The right SUV is ready for anything. Whether it’s running errands, heading home from work during a storm, or going on an off-road adventure, your ride should be able to handle it all. So, which SUV is right for you?

To help drivers in Port Arthur and Nederland, TX, and Lake Charles, LA, decide, Energy Country Ford looks at what two heavy hitters have to offer in this 2022 Ford Bronco Sport vs. Toyota RAV4 comparison.

Specs & Capability

Ford Bronco SportThe 2022 Ford Bronco Sport is built to go anywhere. It has a standard 4x4 system, a high ground clearance, and AdvanceTrac® with RSC® (Roll Stability Control™). It can also adjust to your current driving conditions with the Terrain Management System™ with G.O.A.T. Modes™. This system gives you up to seven selectable drive modes to choose from, including:

  • Slippery
  • Mud/Ruts
  • Sand
  • Rock Crawl

Plus, the Bronco Sport is also prepared to power through the elements. Its 2.0L EcoBoost® I-4 engine offers up to 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque.

You won’t find as much power under the hood of the 2022 Toyota RAV4. You also won’t find standard 4-wheel drive. Front-wheel drive comes standard, while the only available engine gives you just 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. While it does offer selectable driving modes, you won’t have as many to choose from.

Cargo Room

Ford Bronco SportThe 2022 Ford Bronco and 2022 Toyota RAV4 can carry a lot of cargo. Each SUV features a large trunk and 60/40 split-folding rear seats that allow you to load more. When it comes to measurements, they offer similar amounts of storage space. However, the Ford features more ways to load up.

For example, you can store valuables or extra supplies in an under-seat storage compartment in the second row. Zippered seatback pockets are also included to help you keep things secure. Plus, you can add a MOLLE Straps System to organize camping and climbing gear, or hook shopping bags to the backseats. Not only that, but a flip-up rear window allows you to quickly grab something from the trunk, slide in additional cargo, or load longer items like lumber or paddles.

The Toyota RAV4 has space for all your bags, but it doesn’t offer a flip-up window, extra storage compartments, or anything like a strap system.

Technology

Ford Bronco SportBoth SUVs are able to stay connected wherever you go. A Wi-Fi hotspot is included in both the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport and the Toyota RAV4. They also feature user-friendly infotainment systems that include smartphone compatibility, like Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.

The Ford’s SYNC® 3 system features an 8-inch touchscreen on the dashboard, while the Toyota comes with a 7-inch touchscreen. That extra visibility will come in handy when you’re driving down trails and dirt roads. The Bronco Sport offers a 180-degree camera that lets you get a closer look at what’s in front of your SUV. On the flipside, the Toyota RAV4 doesn’t offer anything that lets you scope out the terrain.
