Ford Bronco Sport Dashboard Light Guide

Ford Bronco SportThe Ford Bronco Sport is a tough SUV that’s designed to go anywhere. While it’s prepared for anything that stands in your way, it will need service and maintenance from time to time. It often uses dashboard lights to tell you when it needs to visit the service center. So, what do these lights mean?

To help drivers in Port Arthur and Nederland, Texas, and Lake Charles, Louisiana, decipher what your SUV is trying to tell you, Town and Country Ford put this Ford Bronco Sport dashboard light guide together.

Green Lights

When you see a green icon on your dashboard, it’s a sign that a feature or function is on and currently working. Some of the green lights you may already been familiar with include:

  • Cruise Control LightCruise Control/Adaptive Cruise Control—If you flip on cruise control, you’ll see a light that looks like your odometer. Adaptive Cruise Control watches that road and maintains your speed, so its icon features both a car and the odometer.
  • Auto Start/Stop—This feature saves gas by turning the engine off when you come to a complete stop, then starting it up again when you put your foot on the gas. When it’s on, you’ll see an A inside a semi-circle

Yellow Lights

While green lights are there to indicate that something is working, yellow lights let you know when something isn’t working properly. These indicator lights warn you about maintenance and service problems. You probably won’t need to pull over, but you should get these issues fixed as quickly as you can. Some of the yellow indicator lights to watch out for include:

  • Tire LightMalfunction Indicator—There are several issues that can cause this light to come on. While it usually means there’s an issue with your emissions system, most drivers refer to this as the check engine light since its icon looks like your engine.
  • Tire Pressure Monitor System—If any of your tires have low air pressure, the TPMS light will alert you with an icon that looks like a tire.
  • ABS—When you see the letters ABS on your dashboard, it means there’s a problem with your anti-lock braking system. You can still rely on your main brake system to help you stop but should get these looked at ASAP.

Red Lights

The most serious dashboard lights are red warning lights. They warn you about service problems that often need to be dealt with immediately. Some of the warning lights you should watch out for include:

  • Brake LightOil Pressure Warning—Not having enough oil can damage your engine. When your vehicle is overdue for an oil change, you’ll see a red light that looks like an old-fashioned oil can.
  • Charging System—If you see a light that looks like your battery, it could mean either your battery is low, or your alternator is faulty. Instead of pulling over, drive straight to the service center. If you turn your engine off, you may not be able to start your SUV again.
  • Engine Temperature—Without enough coolant, your engine may overheat. You’ll know it’s getting too hot if you see a light that looks like a thermometer.
  • Brake Warning Light—While you can still drive with the ABS light on, if you see the word BRAKE in red letters, you should pull over right away. It’s not safe to drive with faulty brakes, so you should call a tow truck.
