2021 Ford F-150 vs Ram 1500
There’s nothing quite like a dependable truck. The Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 are two of the top pickups on the road, but which one is right for you? To help drivers and businesses in Port Arthur and Nederland, TX, and Lake Charles, LA, decide, Energy Country Ford looked at how they stack up in this 2021 Ford F-150 vs. Ram 1500 comparison.
Towing Capacity
You can feel confident hitching your trailer to the 2021 Ford F-150. It offers a towing capacity of 14,000 pounds. To haul all that heavy cargo, you’ll have a series of exciting engines to choose from, plus you can hit the road with Tow/Haul mode.
The F-150 also offers some features that’ll make towing safe and easier for you. For starters, you can lineup with your trailer using the Rear View Camera with Dynamic Hitch Assist. During your drive, you can rely on trailer sway control and BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Trailer Coverage to keep you safe. Once you arrive at your destination, you can use Pro Trailer Backup Assist to back your cargo into place.
The Ram 1500 also comes with a camera system, trailer sway control, and a Blind Spot Monitor that can help you change lanes while you’re towing. It even offers a trailer reverse guidance system that’s similar to Pro Trailer Backup Assist. However, with a 12,750-pound towing capacity, it can’t haul as much cargo.

Truck Beds & Payload
The 2021 Ford F-150 is also designed to accommodate any cargo that doesn’t require its own trailer. To give truck-lover options, it offers three truck beds to choose from, including a 5.5-foot box, a 6.5-foot box, and an 8-foot bed.
All three options are built with high-strength military-grade aluminum alloy, which allows for handling heavy payloads, no matter which truck bed you’re interested in. In fact, the 2021 F-150 can carry 3,325 pounds.
Even if you don’t load it up with lots of heavy gear, the F-150 can carry a lot. Its available 8-foot bed offers up to 77.4 cubic feet of cargo room. Plus, the tailgate can double as a portable workstation. It features built-in pockets for clamps, a flat work bench, a cupholder, electrical outlets, and a built-in ruler.
The 2021 Ram 1500 also offers electrical outlets in the truck bed, but it doesn’t look or feel like a mobile work bench. It’s also a little smaller. The Ram doesn’t offer an 8-foot bed, so you’ll only have up to 61.5 cubic feet of space. It’s also not designed to handle as much weight.

Powertrains
So, what exactly do these versatile trucks have under the hood? The 2021 F-150 gives you plenty of options with six powertrains to choose from. It even helps you enjoy a powerful and efficient drive with a 3.0L Power Stroke Turbo Diesel engine and a 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6.
The Ram 1500 also offers a diesel engine, but you won’t have as many options. There are only five powertrains available, plus its only hybrid option is a mild hybrid system, so it can’t cover as much ground in between pitstops.
